Aged Man Passes Away At Waterloo Saturday
Funeral services were held on Monday in the Ashley and Waldroff Funeral Home for F.W. Strohecker, who died Saturday at the County Home at Waterloo from the complications of advanced age. He was 88 years of age.
He was born November 18, 1854, in Pennsylvania, the son of George and Sarah Strohecker. He was married to Amelia Hepler in Brookville, Ill., on June 21, 1875, and came to Iowa in 1875 He settled on a farm near La Porte City from which he retired several years ago.
He is survived by four sons, Joseph, George and Clifford of La Porte City and Edward of Waterloo, and by two daughters, Mrs. W.H. Smith of Waterloo and Pearl Strohecker of Mason City.
The service was conducted by Rev. E.E. Clements of Rudd, a former Methodist pastor, here.
Burial was in West View cemetery, with three sons, Edward, Joseph and George, a son-in-law, Will Smith, a ___ E.I. Strohecker, and a nephew, Roy Altenhein, acting as casket bearers.
He had been living with his bachelor sons George "Bert" and Joseph "Joe" in La Porte City prior to entering the County Home. Contributed by #48119566
