Norman Dabel, 87, died Monday Jan 17, 2000 at his home in Orem. Funeral services were Jan 22, 2000 in the Canyon View 7th Ward. Burial in the Orem City Cemetery with military rites.
He was born June 20, 1912 in Freedom WY to August adn Sarah Snyder Dabel. He married Orpha Draney and was later divorced. He married Sybil Hartense Lee Walker on Sept 23, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died on Feb 17, 1997.
He attended schools in Star Valley where he graduated from high school. he served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Maryland and participated in operations at Marianas, Palau, Leyte and in the Surigae Straits. He worked as a paint contractor for most of his life and painted most of the town of Jackson Hole. He was a fly fisherman. He played the musical saw and the piano. He was a fine dancer. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a high priest.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters; Elizabeth Ann Pew, of Boise; Kathy Lee call of Providence UT; Edwin L. Walker of Provo; LaMar Walker of Brazil Clea Putman of Bloomington UT; Shirley Swenson of British Columbia; 41 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; also survived by brothers and sisters; Ronald Dabel, Cecil Dabel, Vernon Dabel, Calpurnina Knutti, Floyd Dabel, Verda Helm, Colleen Windley and J.R. Dabel.
