Mrs. Ruby Allmond Gay, age 84, of Vidalia, Died Wednesday, January 31 at Meadows Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Gay had resided the past 40 years in Vidalia. She was a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents Emerson Foote and Mary Leulla "Mollie" Hamilton Allmond.
Mrs. Gay is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ted Mills of Savannah, Mrs. Melvin Mixon and Mrs. Farris Humphrey, both of Vidalia, and Mrs. Joan Bell of Charleston, South Carolina; four sons, Curtis W. Gay of Rincon, Elmer F. Gay of Lizella, Alby L. Gay of Vidalia and Emerson Gay of Brunswick; one sister, Mrs. J.B. Bailey of Vidalia; two brothers, Jack Allmond of Swainsboro and Teddy R. Allmond of Higgston; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gay were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Street Baptist Church, with Reverend Bill Bodiford officiating. Interment was in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Earl Butler, Glenn Mixon, Bobby Gay, Preston Mixon, Kenny Thomas and Danny Smith.
Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of funeral arrangements.
