Mr. Teddie R. Allmond, age 85, Higgston, died Thursday, May 7, 1998 in Wheeler County Hospital, Glenwood.


The native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County had resided in Higgston since 1945. He was a farmer for many years and also worked as a barber in Vidalia before becoming an agent for Georgia Farm bureau Insurance. The deceased retired from the insurance business at age 65 after 15 years as the agent for Montgomery County. Mr. Allmond served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the Higgston City Council fr 30 years. He also was a member and decon of the Higgston Baptist Church.


Survivors include one daugther, Diane Allmond, Orlando, Florida; one son, Theron Allmond, Schaumburg, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9,1988 at 2;00 p.m. in the Higgston Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Swann and Dr. Wayne Durden officiating. Interment followed in the E.F. Allmond Family Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Jackie Allmond, Rick Allmond,Edward Bailey, Kem Frost, Curtis Gay, Emerson Gay, and Royal Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of the Higgston Baptist Church. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
