J. M. Sevenich, a life-long friend of the deceased, contributed the following obituary of Mrs. Naber:
"Mayville again mourns the death of a truly noble woman, Mrs. Oscar Naber, who died in the early hours of Monday morning, Nov. 10 at an age when life's shadow still falls westward, and life itself holds out hopes for the evening's rest. Her death did not come unexpected, all medical skill proved unavailing and the best of care could not stay the relentless hand of death. Hoping against hope those near and dear to her stood about her bed to see the dreaded moment of her departure from earth approached. Her death leaves a heartbroken husband whose life companion she was for more than thirty years sharing with him the trials and tribulations incident to life, and four children, mourning the loss of a loving mother who was removed from their midst all too early.
"Mrs. Oscar Naber, nee Paustian, was born in Mayville on May 9, 1876, the daughter of the late Ferdinand Paustian and wife. She attended the schools in this city and grew to womanhood, honored and respected by all. On Aug. 24, 1899, she became the bride of Oscar Naber, and continued to reside in the city of her birth. She was a wife and mother of the highest and finest type, gifted with the virtue of forbearance and fortitude as few mortal are. Of a retiring, quiet nature, Mrs. Naber devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and those in need of help.
"The deceased leaves her husband, three sons: Alfred, Walter and Herbert, and a daughter, Miss Gretchen Naber, two grandsons, a brother, Albert Paustian of Brillion; two sisters, Miss Anna Paustian, of Mayville. and Mrs. Oswald Liebscher, of Thiensville. A sister, Miss Clara Paustian, preceded her in death.
"The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, and burial will take place in Graceland cemetery.
"To the bereaved we extend our heart-felt sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
