Sarah Louise Midgett, 94, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in a Nags Head nursing home.

A native of Waves, Mrs. Midgett was a homemaker, attended Fairhaven United Methodist Church and was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 165.

She was the daughter of Cora Manley and Ignatius Scarborough Midgett and the widow of Alston William Midgett.

Mrs. Midgett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anna G. and Charles Pendleton of Elizabeth City; three sons and daughters-in- law, William Avner Midgett, Sr. and Sylvia Midgett, Leland R. and Alpean Midgett, and Carroll H. Midgett, Sr. and Donna Midgett, all of Waves; a sister, Irma Austin of Hatteras, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two step- grandchildren. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Anna Midgett, Beuna Ballance, Camille Midgett and Matilda Etheridge; and a brother, Dorland Midgett.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Fairhaven United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bryan Shaw. Burial will follow in the Midgett Family Cemetery, Waves. The body was placed in the church Saturday afternoon, where the family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. At other times, the family will receive at the home of her son, Carroll Midgett. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is handling arrangements.
