He was friendly and charming and was helpful to others in need and was a good neighbor and as husband and father who did his best for his family; none were better.
He had served a life time in the Coast Guard and retired a few years ago. Since then he had been in the mercantile business until the storm of '33 wiped away both store and stock of goods and from then on he has been content to live at home and leave the store business to his neighbors. He and his good wife reared a fine set of children.
Besides his wife, who was Miss Cora Midgette, the following children survive him: Mrs. B.R. Ballance of Buxton, Mrs. B.F. Etheridge of Buxton, Mrs. Dan Midgett of False Cape, Dorland Midgette of Rodanthe, Mrs. Alston Midgette of Rodanthe, Miss Irma Midgette of Rodanthe, and Mrs. G.A. Midgett.
