Daniel Bradford was the sixth child of Archibald and Martha Martin Albright. He was born on October 21, 1863 at the Albright homestead farm near present-day Bee Lick community. After working on his father's farm for several years, Daniel went to Cincinnati and joined the Union Pacific Railway Company. He became foreman of a construction crew building railroad track in Kansas and Oklahoma. He played the fiddle for square dancers and this is how he met "May". He married Sarah May Welden, who was from Kansas, on October 29, 1893. He was 30 years old; she was 19. They would have seven children: one was born in Oklahoma, two in Kansas, one in Ohio and the rest in Kentucky.

The US Government granted massive amounts of land to the Union Pacific Railway Company for building the transcontinental railroad. Daniel received a tract of that land since he was a foreman. It is not known what happened to Daniel's land, but it is known that his brother, James, had a large farm in Kansas. It may have been the same land.

Around 1900, Daniel and May moved east to Cincinnati, Ohio. The reason is not known. Brother James went to Cincinnati and convinced Daniel to return to Brodhead, Kentucky and help run one of the family businesses in the town. Sometime between 1901 and 1904, Daniel, May and their children moved to Brodhead where Daniel operated a hotel / restaurant near the L&N railway tracks in town. Brodhead was a major refueling stop for steam engine trains and passengers would eat in the restaurant as the train took on coal and water. The hotel did very good business. The family remained in Brodhead.

Daniel Bradford died in 1930 at the age of 66, a year after May died. Both are buried in Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead.
