Lela was the second child of Daniel and Sarah May Albright, born in Kansas while her daddy was working on the railroad. Lela's family moved to Brodhead, Kentucky between 1901-04. Daniel was from this area.
Lela married Owen Ryan Cass on August 16, 1913 in Jellico, Tennessee. She was 18 years old, he was 19. (Tennessee did not require letters of approval from parents.) They lived in Brodhead, Kentucky for the rest of their lives.
Lela and Owen had two children: Lester Ryland and Margaret Inez.
Lela died on May 29, 1964 at the age of 68 in the Norton Infirmary in Louisville, KY. She and Owen were buried in the Berea Cemetery in Berea, KY.
