Charles was the fourth child of Archibald and Martha (Martin) Albright. He grew up as a worker on the family farm near Bee Lick, Rockcastle Co., KY. By 1880, he had moved into Brodhead and was a dry good merchant in the town. He married Cordelia Ellen Frith on Oct 3, 1882. They had one son, Mansir, before Charles died of tuberculosis in 1885. He was 29 years old. (Mansir would die a year later in 1886.)
