AUBURN - Edith Handshoe Payton, age 66, was found dead Saturday, November 9, 2002 at her residence in Auburn where she had lived for many years. She was born in on January 29, 1936 Floyd County, near Garrett, Kentucky to Crit and Maggie (Bradley) Handshoe.

She is survived by her former husband Charles Payton and their two sons; Wayne Payton of LaGrange, Indiana and Charles Payton of Kentucky (no city given). One brother; Garman Handshoe of Fort Wayne. 5 sisters; Glenna(Handhoe) Johnson of LaOtto, Indiana, Dorothy (Handshoe) Conley of LaOtto, Antha (Handshoe) Bailey of Garrett, Indiana, Delphia (Handshoe) Miller of Brimfield, Indiana, and Ruth (Handshoe) Bailey of Montgomery, Michigan. 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive. One sister deceased, Julie Moore & three brothers deceased; Pard, Garnel, & Arnold Handshoe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Burial will be at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Hite Funeral Home.
