George came to the Verden community with his parents in 1901 when the territory was first opened for settlement.
He was married to Mabel Janssen in 1919. They had eight children, one preceeding him in death.
Survivors included his wife Mabel; two sons Ralph and Donald; five daughters Nellie Cox, Iva Cramer, Dorothy Cavett, Darla Jean Callies, and Lois Roach; two brothers Cecil and Frank; three sisters Allie Moppett, Susie Sunshine Talkington, and Jimmie DeKinder; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
George was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1962 when he and Mabel moved into Verden.
Funeral services were held at the Verden First Methodist Church with the Rev. Mrs. A. B. Hickman officating. She was his former pastor at the Dutton Methodist Church.
Interment was under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home.
