Eleanor Margaret "Peg" Welshonse, 74, of Port Royal RR3 [Tuscarora], died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 1997 at Lewistown Hospital.
Born September 28, 1923 in Tuscarora, Turbett Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Homer S. and Mary Jane
(Sheaffer) Rice.
Her husband, John A. "Jack" Welshonse Sr., whom she married January 13, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: three sons, John A. Welshonse Jr., Mifflintown RR5, F. Scott Welshonse, Mifflintown RR3, and Timothy J. Welshonse, Port Royal; two brothers, Harold H. Rice and H. Shelley Rice, both of Port Royal RR3; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Dorothy) Beasom, Port Royal RR3, and Mrs. Samuel (Mary Jane) Varner, McAlisterville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Rice, and one sister, Jennie Haas.
She was a 1942 graduate of Port Royal High School. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse, working at Harrisburg State Hospital in the 1940s. She was a member of Tuscarora Church of the Brethren, Port Royal RR3.
Services were held Friday at Guss Funeral Home, Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles Sheaffer officiating. Interment was in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
