Johnny, the son of George Montree Milstead and Lavinia "Viney" Jane Warden, was a well-known stock trader in the Fayetteville area.

He married Cora Ann Smith, daughter of William J. Smith and Lucy Ann Mullins, on 26 January 1896 in Moore Co., TN.

Mr. John Milstead, one of the most prominent stock dealers and farmers of the county, died Suddenly at Crystal Springs yesterday (Wednesday) morning. He had been in a serious condition for some time.
