Mrs. Scarlett died at her home on Monday, February 8, 1999.
She was born in Putnam County on August 7, 1909 to the late Jim and Lucy Whitehead Madewell. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Gentry Community.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Russell.
Her family includes her husband, William Carl Scarlett of Baxter; a son, Albert Russell of Buffalo Valley; four daughters, Mary Jordan of Baxter, Pauline Norrod of Cookeville, Rubye May of Ninevah Indiana, and Johnie Bryant of Baxter ; two sisters, Winnie Uhles of Nashville and Glenda Bush of Chestnut Mound; three brothers, Douglas Madewell of Carthage, Albert Madewell of Nashville and Jim Dow Madewell of Baxter; and 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren
