BAXTER -- Funeral services for Jim Dow Madewell, 77, of Baxter, will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 28, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. today, Thurs., Aug. 26, at the funeral home.

Mr. Madewell was dead on arrival at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Wed., Aug. 25, 1999.

He was born on March 6, 1922, in Putnam County to the late Jim and Lucy Whitehead Madewell. Mr. Madewell was a self-employed painter and farmer.

His family includes his wife, Mary Madewell of Baxter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Kim Madewell and Johnny and Dawn Madewell, all of Cookeville; a daughter, Sarah Madewell of Cookeville; two sisters, Glenda Bush of Chestnut Mound and Winnie Uhles of Nashville; two brothers, Albert Madewell of Nashville and Doug Madewell of Carthage; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Crystal, Brandon, Tyler, Kayla, Austin and Kaylin Madewell.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Floy Scarlett, Alice Hudgens, Gladys Upchurch and Mary Rich.

Bro. Gary Norton will officiate at the services.
