COOKEVILLE-- Funeral services for Gladys Upchurch of Cooke,
ville will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home, and burial will follow in Smellage Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
Mrs. Upchurch, the widow of Hershel Upchurch, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 1990) at her home on Cypress Street. She was 83.
She was born on July 8, 1907, in Putnam County, daughter of the late James and Lucy Whitehead Madewell. She was a homemaker.
Her family includes daughters Dot Thomas of Nashville, Dimple Pace of Indiana and Peggy Upchurch of Cookeville; sons Robert of Indiana; Hermon and Gene, both of
Cookeville; Douglas of Silver Point and Ray Upchurch of Baxter; sisters, Winnie Uhles of Nashville, Alice Hudgens of Ashland City, Tenn., Floy Scarlett of Baxter and Glenda
Bush of Chestnut Mound, Tenn.; brothers, Douglas Madewell of Lancaster, Tenn., Albert Madewell of Nashville and Jim Dow Madewe11 of Baxter; and 16 grandchildren, and 23
great-grandchildren.
Conducting the services will be Bro. Johnny Fox and Bro. D. Thomas. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
