Harold L. "Ike" Gleim, Sr., of Hummelstown, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at his home. Born in Harrisburg on December 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Quentin A. and Mary Elizabeth Alverta Doner Gleim. Ike was a carpenter and a plasterer. He was a former commander and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1687, and a former member of the American Legion Post 265, both of Hummelstown. Ike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Caroline Mark Gleim, whom he married on August 11, 1950; a daughter, Donna M. Smith and her husband, William R. of Hummelstown; three sons, Scott L. Gleim and his wife, Brenda of Newville, Harold L. "Bud" Gleim, Jr. and his wife, Vanessa of Newport and Rodney A. Gleim and his companion, Debra of Hummelstown; three sisters, Eleanor Allamon and her husband, Donald of Orbisonia, Ruth Koch and her husband, James of Harrisburg, and Helen Wilson and her husband, Ronald of Carlisle; five brothers, Elmer Gleim and his wife, Ruth of York, Richard Gleim and his wife, Barbara of Hummelstown, Donald Gleim and his wife, Betty of Sand Beach, James Gleim and his wife, Eldora of Shippensburg, and Merle Gleim; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ike was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Cousins and three brothers, Norman Gleim, Paul Gleim and William Gleim. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Kirk C. Kerns officiating. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, North Annville Township. A viewing will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of the services. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 158 South Hoernerstown Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036, or to the charity of one's choice.
