James E. Gleim, Sr., 82, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at his home.

Born Wednesday, July 24, 1935 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Quentin Albert and Mary Elizabeth Alverta Doner Gleim.

James was of the Brethren Faith. He was a United States National Guard Veteran serving with the 28th Division. James was an Electrician by trade working for various companies in the area. James loved playing horse shoe tournaments where he won first place on a number of occasions and was an avid wood worker.

James was a true jack of all trades.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eldora Effie Fansler Gleim whom he married February 5, 1954, five sons; James E. (wife Cindy) Gleim, Jr., Middletown, Jeffrey E. (wife Tina) Gleim, Wellsville, John E. (wife Diane) Gleim, Grantville, Kenneth L. (wife Christine) Gleim, Hanover, and Robert A. (wife Faith) Gleim, Bellefonte; one daughter, Debra E. (husband Robert) Stine, Biglerville, one sister; Helen Marie Wilson, Carlisle, five grandchildren; Christine, Janelle, Jennifer, Danielle, and Kenneth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium with the Rev. Gordon Wells officiating. Burial was in Mt Zion Cemetery in Boiling Springs.
