Mrs. Bessie Malinda Hollifield Blackwell, 90, formerly of Inman, died Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011, at Magnolia Manor. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Polk County, NC on May 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Squire and Lela Turner Gilbert.

She was the widow of Marion Blackwell and was first married to the late John W. Hollifield. She had worked at Inman Mills and was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.

Her survivors include, two sons, John J. Hollifield of Inman and Walter B. Hollifield of Charlotte; a daughter, Lois Ellen Wilson of Inman; a brother, Clarence Gilbert of Inman; a sister, Grace Ledbetter of Inman; three stepdaughters, Mildred Skinner of Campobello, Doris Wilson of Campobello, and Helen Burrell of Inman; a stepson, Glenn Blackwell of Cherokee Springs; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three sons, Wilford Lee Hollifield, James Russell Hollifield, and Vernon Hollifield.

Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 25th, 2011, conducted by Rev. Michael Owenby, Rev. Frank Bryant and Mr. Danny Hollifield.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
