J. H. GILBERT

INMAN--- John Henry Gilbert, 57, husband of Mrs Rachel Anderson Gilbert of Route 1, died 9:30 a.m. Monday following an accident in Duncan Route1. Gilbert was sawing down a tree when it fell across his back, killing him instantly.
A native of Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late S.P. Gilbert and Lela Turner Gilbert.
Also surviving daughters; Misses Martha Jane and Rebecca Gilbert of the home; sons, Thomas and Henry Gilbert of the home; stepdaughter, Mrs Betty Efau of Slater-Marietta; stepsons Johnny of Tuscon, Ariz. and Ray Renfro of Inman; sisters Mrs Velda Blanton, Mrs Nell Banks, and Mrs Grace Ledbetter of Inman, and Mrs Bessie Blackwell of Campobello; brothers, Pink Gilbert of Spartanburg, LeRoy, Harvey, and Clarence Gilbert of Inman.
Services 2 Wednesday at Big Level Baptist Church in Polk County; burial in church cemetery.
Body at the home.
Petty Funeral Home, Landrum.
