The Lyon County Reporter, 17 May 1978, page 12: Funeral services for Donald Bowers, 66, of George were held this afternoon (Wednesday) at the Vogelaar-Bolin Funeral Chapel in George. The Rev. Elmer Staus officiated and burial was in the Kingsley Cemetery. Mr. Bowers died Sunday in a hospital at Sibley following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bowers was born March 12, 1912, in Kingsley, and married Bernice Stephenson June 1, 1933, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He was employed as a machinist.
Survivors include the widow; two brothers, Ernest of Anthon and Lyle of Denver, Colorado; and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Mackler of Vancouver, Washington; and Mrs. Laura Ross of Alliance, Nebraska.
