George Heinrich Wilhelm Gaskamp was the youngest son of Christian and Margarethe Schmedthorst Gaskamp.

George married Minna Kohring on Dec 5, 1901, in Zionsville, Washington County, Texas; Pastor G. Stricker performed the marriage ceremony. Their witnesses were Wilhelm Gaskamp and Fritz Kohring.

George Gaskamp, 100, of 804 E. Academy St. in Brenham, died Tuesday at 10:50 a.m. in a local hospital. Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor James Witschorke and Pastor R. J. Weber officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Brenham Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gaskamp was born July 26, 1879 at Zionsville, the son of Christian and Margaret Schmedthorst Gaskamp. He was baptized Aug. 10, 1879 at Zionsville by Pastor G. Thoene and confirmed April 10, 1893 at Zionsville by Pastor F. Schwahn. He was married to Minnie Kohring Dec. 5, 1901, at Zionsville by Pastor G. Stricker. Mr. Gaskamp was a retired farmer and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Survivors include a son, Herbert Gaskamp of Zionsville; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Meta and Emil Glaesmann of Brenham, Lydia and Otto Blum of Burton, Selma and Alvin Klander of Riesel, Mrs. Laura Glenz of Artesian Park and Adeline and Gilbert Kelm of Waco; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Kohring Gaskamp on Feb. 1, 1978, three sons, two daughters, six brothers, one grandson, and one granddaughter. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of the usual remembrances the family requests that memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville building fund.
