She was born July 5, 1917, at rural Pickrell and grew up in the Firth area, attending Grandview School. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She married William Jurgens on Jan. 1, 1940, at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed in the Filley area for 40 years. After William's death, she moved to Beatrice.
She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She enjoyed ceramic work, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and dancing.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Trauernicht and husband Wayne of Beatrice, Delores Baehr and husband Arnold of Blue Springs, Ruth Buss and husband Richard of Sterling, and Caroline Ideus and husband Gary of Filley; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Frieda Evers, Elsie Parde and Ina Jurgens, all of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Johanna Ottersberg Evers; her husband, William, who died on Jan. 31, 1980; granddaughter-in-law, Mindy Baehr; great-granddaughter, Madison Buss; eight brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, with Pastor Alton Schwandt officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Duane Busboom and Harold Jurgens in charge. A family prayer service will be held 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield, Beatrice, until 9 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday
