Rickie Evers, 92 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center in Beatrice, NE. Saturday morning, March 11, 2006. He was born on April 11, 1913 near Cortland, NE. He was baptized on May 18, 1913 at the Christ Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. and was confirmed in 1929. He moved to a farm in the Adams, NE. area at age 5 and attended the Hartzell School. He and Tena Johnson were married on March 4, 1943 and farmed west of Adams, NE. until moving into Beatrice, NE. in 1956. He had been employed at Dempster Manufacturing in the maintenance department and was a custodian at the Beatrice Public Schools for 11 years and retired in 1975. He was a former member of the Christ Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and going to sales.

Survivors include sister Elizabeth Jurgens and sister in law Frieda Evers, both of Beatrice, NE.: and brothers in law Fred Johnson and Menne Ideus, both of Beatrice, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Johanna (Ottersburg) Evers; wife Tena Evers (August 3, 2005); 7 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. with Reverend John Sievers officiating. Interment will be held at the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 10-9:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 9-11:30 A.M. at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the Zion Lutheran Cemetery and the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, R. Pickrell, NE. with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected]. They will be forwarded to the family.
