MRS. JOHANNA EVERS PASSES AWAY MONDAY EVENING
Johanna Evers, 87, a resident since 1918 of the Grandview community, west of Adams, passed away Monday evening at a Beatrice hospital. She has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Jurgens and family near Filley during the winter months and had appeared to be in comparatively good health until Monday evening when she suddenly became ill.
She was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, January 12, 1871 and has made her home in Gage County for 68 years.
She is survived by five sons, Manns of Sterling, Colo., Harm of Cortland, Avid, John and Rickie of Beatrice; five daughters, Mrs. John Jurgens and Mrs. George Helmerichs of Summerfield, Kans., Mrs. Miley Schlake, Cortland, Mrs. William Jurgens of Filley; one brother, John Ottersburg of Wymore; 42 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren, the latter five living in Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Evers in 1937 and two sons and one daughter.
Mrs. Evers is a member of Christ Lutheran church east of Pickrell where the funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (today) at 2:00 o’clock, following the services at Griffiths-Fox Chapel in Beatrice at 1:15.
