Retah Louise Colton was born June 23, 1901 on a farm in the Pipe Creek community in Ottawa County, Kansas to William Albert and Charlotte "Lottie" Carver Felt. She departed this life Thursday afternoon, September 21, 1995 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas at the age of 94 years.
Retah attended Pipe Creek school and Delphos High School, and on May 12, 1920 was united in marriage to Raymond Edwin Colton at Delphos, Kansas. They made their home on a farm six miles east of Glasco for 65 years. One daughter, JoAnn was born to this happy union. Retah continued to live in her home until July, 1990 when she entered the Delphos Rest Home. She began receiving care at the Nicol Home in Glasco in 1991.
Retah was known as a hard worker and a good neighbor. She loved her home and spent many hours tending her beautiful flowers which she enjoyed sharing with many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond in 1985, two brothers Rolland Felt and Reuben Felt, and one sister Reva Liby.
Survivors include one daughter JoAnn Hyde and husband Paul of rural Glasco, two grandchildren Pam Hyde Kingsley and Dee Hyde, two great grandchildren Brenna Nicole Duggin, Andrew Paul Duggin, three nieces and eight nephews and many friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, September 25, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. at the Glasco Cemetery. Officiating was William Dunphy.
Casket bearers were: Joe Bucklin, Gail Cyr, Gale Ethridge, Milton Henderson, Rex Rice and Stan Schmidt.
Interment was at the Glasco Cemetery. Services were directed by Dean Funeral Home.
