Worried about the discrepancy between the number of pages I have created and the number I manage?
Find A Grave admins transferred burials in two cemeteries to me. In one case the page manager was no longer active. In the other case, with several thousand burials, the page manager had been removed by Find A Grave. I'm doing my best to update all those burials as people send me links and edits.
I've been collecting family history for the last 40 years. My husband and I have deep Kansas roots. His are in Ottawa, Lincoln, Nemaha and Cloud counties; mine are in Wabaunsee, Pottawatomie, Shawnee, and Crawford counties. Our people have been in this state since 1857, and I find more little items about their everyday lives as I read the old weekly newspapers on microfilm at the Kansas Historical Society's archives in Topeka.
I'm currently working on four projects:
1. Working with others to photograph Mount Hope Cemetery, one of the large city cemeteries in Topeka, Kansas. Updating pages as people send me edits and links.
2. Reading my way through the Centralia Journal, looking for items about the McLaughlin and Shoemaker families, and sharing obits as I find them. Compiling a notebook to be donated to the Kansas State Archives.
3. Verifying burials in Lynn Creek Cemetery, near Berryton, working with the cemetery trustee. Compiling a notebook of burials to be donated to the Kansas State Archives.
4. Reading old issues of the Cherokee Sentinel, Crawford County, adding obits to the Cherokee cemetery. Verifying burials from edits sent by others.
NOTE: If you would like me to look for additional information on burials in Mount Hope or Mount Auburn cemeteries in Topeka, Lynn Creek Cemetery in Berryton, or Cherokee Cemetery in Crawford County, KS, please let me know via the edit tab on the page.
