The youngest daughter of Martin Short and Matilda (Norman), Eunice's family moved from Illinois to Winona Co., Minnesota where she married Albro B. Danforth.

The family then removed to North Dakota, and in 1906 homesteaded land in Alberta, Canada. The mother of ten children, Eunice was widowed in 1917, and not until 1933 did she re-marry. She took for her 2nd husband, Charlie M. Foote, who died in 1935.

Eunice died at the age of ninety-three years and three months.
