A Venus area man en route to church with his wife and five children, was killed by a car Saturday evening while walking along Route 157 to check a deer hit by his own auto.
The victim, 47 year old Floyd E. Marsh of Venus RD1, died of severe hemorrhaging in Oil City Hospital soon after admission.

Born at Coal Hill, Venango County, April 15, 1920, Mr. Marsh was a son of Fred B. and Grace Blauser Marsh. He attended schools in the area and graduated from Oil City High School.
Mr. Marsh was a veteran of World War II.
He was a partner in the Fred B. Marsh and Sons Lumber Company, which currently operates a lumber mill on the Bredinsburg Road.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church at Coal Hill.
He and the former Laura Clark were married June 17, 1944. She survives along with 10 children, ****, a grandchild; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Marsh of Oil City RD 2.
Surviving also are five brothers, Austin Marsh of Venus, ****, Gerald Marsh of Diamond, Donald Marsh of Oil City RD 2, ****, and a sister, Mrs. Roger (Doris) Schreffler of Sacramento.
Friends may call any time after 2 p.m. today at the Faller Funeral Home in Fryburg, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday.
Removal will be made at 1 p.m. Wednesday to the First Free Methodist Church in Oil City, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.
Rev. Elton Fox, pastor of the Second Free Methodist Church of Oil City, will officiate assisted by Rev. L. J. Lindsey and Rev. George Oglesby of Titusville.
Interment will be in the Craig Hill Cemetery in Pinegrove Township.
