Doris was born on December 16, 1925 in Oil City, PA, the daughter of Fred and Grace Marsh and grew up on a farm outside town. Doris attended nursing school in Warren, PA where she met Roger C. Schreffler while caring for his mother as part of her training. The two married in September of 1946 and made their home in Tippery, PA.

Doris's days were filled with raising their family, gardening - where she delighted in her roses - and canning the garden's harvest. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilt making. The family moved to Carmichael, CA in 1958 for Roger's career with Aerojet General. They later made their home in Fair Oaks, CA where Doris cared for Roger until his passing in 1973.

Doris worked as an RN in long term care facilities after her husband's death. She moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1994, where three of her children resided, and where she was a member of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. Doris was a generous woman who loved her family and was loved by them. She will be remembered and missed by those that knew her.
