Esther M. Finkell, age 86, of Port Orange, went to be with our Lord,on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. A service in her honor will be held today, Saturday, November 1, 2008at 1:00 p.m.at the Port Orange chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, with Pastor BernieDavis officiating. Esther was born in South Carolina, came to Florida at age four, and graduated from Mainland High School. She served as Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Mighty Chosen One of the Caldron, Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth, President of the South Daytona Garden Club, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Advisory Board member of the International Order of Rainbow of Girls. She dedicated her life as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Esther will best be remembered for her hospitality, and for creating a warm loving home. She was the center of her family's gatherings, a beautiful woman, with the heart of gold who devoted her life to caring for others. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Donald R. Finkell, Sr., preceded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, five children, Donna Bell, Sylvia Finkell, DonaldFinkell, Jr., Brian Finkell, Paul Finkell; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Paul Howard Baltzegar and his family.
