Paul Howard Baltzegar, age 94, passed away peacefully at home in Samsula on July 4, 2021 with his wife of over 70 years and family by his side. Paul was born March 21, 1927 to Hiram and Ogretia (Shipes) Baltzegar in a house near Madeline Avenue in Port Orange. He was a lifetime resident of Volusia County.

He is survived by his son Steve (Linda) Baltzegar of Samsula, daughter Linda (Kenny) Witkowski of Alpharetta, Georgia; four grandchildren: Scott (Bridie) Rhinehart of Cumming, Georgia, Sam (Laura) Rhinehart of Hull, Georgia, Stephanie (Andrew) Price of St. Augustine, Florida, Amanda (Jason) Roberts of Bremerton, Washington; five great-grandchildren: Nathan, Noah, Camden and Cora Rhinehart, Davie Price and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Shirley Jean (1970). He attended South Ridgewood Elementary, Mainland Jr. and Sr. High Schools. Paul joined the United States Navy on March 20, 1945, the day before his 18th birthday and served as Seaman First Class in the Pacific.

Paul married the love of his life, Lucille Yarbrough, on September 3, 1950. They built a house in Port Orange where they lived for over 40 years before retiring to Samsula. After World War II, Paul worked in roofing, carpentry, plumbing, meat cutting, and later for Buckeye and T. G. Lee Dairies and driving concrete trucks for Edgar Brothers, Rinker Materials and Lehigh Cement.

Paul and Lucille opened Lucille's Draperies in 1976 where they worked until their retirement in 1993. He was a member of Spruce Creek Baptist Church. Paul enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, horses, dogs, raising livestock, rodeos, NASCAR, football, reading cowboy stories, country music, traveling with Lucille and spending time with family and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday July 12, 2021 with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 am, all in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114. Interment will follow in Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.
