LEAK, HENRY B., P.O. Lizton; Farmer, Sec. 16; born in this county Jan. 16, 1842; son
of James L. Leak and Amanda Buzzard who settled in this county in 1834. Henry B. was
married Oct. 27, 1867, to Sarah E. Thompson; two children--Ora E., b. July 20, 1868, and Iza A., b. July 20, 1870.

Lizton - Ora Leak received a message, Tuesday, announcing the death in Florida of his father, Henry B. Leak. Mr. Leak was in Florida for his health. He was a highly respected citizen and in the war for the Union, he was a member of the 54th Indiana volunteers. He is survived by his son, Ora, and daughter, Mrs. Kennedy. The body is to be brought here for burial.

Lizton - Henry B. Leak was born near Lizton, Jan. 16, 1842, and died Jan. 31, 1922, aged 80 years and 16 days. He was the eldest son and second child in a family of eleven children. His parents were James Lawrence and Amanda Buzzard Leak, early pioneers of Union township, he having come with his parents from Kentucky in 1834 at the age of 18 and she, with her parents, from Virginia in 1836 at the age of 14. At the age of 20, the subject of this sketch enlisted in the 54th Indiana Volunteers, Company F. He enlisted Oct. 30, 1862, and was discharged Dec. 8, 1863. The captain of his company, Captain Neff, is still living, at Ladoga. He became a member of the Christian church about 1862 under the preaching of John Hopkins. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Thompson, Oct. 28, 1867. She died Aug. 11, 1918. To this union was born two children, Ora E. Leak and Iza A. Kennedy. He leaves besides these, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Jas. Hilary Leak, of Lizton, and one sister, Mrs. Emily Shirley, of Indianapolis. His was a jovial, friendly disposition. He always was ready for a joke and a talk with a friend. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a man who was 80 years young.

Lizton - Funeral services for Henry Leak were held from the Christian church Sunday afternoon. The discourse was preached by the Rev. Chas. O. Lee. Burial was in the K. of P. cemetery. The burial services were conducted by members of the American Legion. The Lizton Post furnished the pall bearers and the Danville Post furnished a firing squad and a bugler. Deceased was a veteran of the civil war, having served with the 54th Indiana regiment of infantry. He was 80 years old. Mr. Leak had gone to Florida to spend the winter and his death occurred suddenly there Tuesday of last week.
