Funeral services for Mrs. Iza A. Kennedy, Lizton, were yesterday afternoon in the Christian Church at Lizton with burial in the K. of P. Cemetery. Mrs. Kennedy, age 86, died Sunday afternoon in the Golden Rule Nursing Home where she had been a patient since suffering a stroke at her home on Thanksgiving evening.
Mrs. Kennedy was born north of Lizton, July 20, 1870. She was the daughter of Henry B. and Sarah Leak. She married in November, 1888, to William Leach, who died from typhoid fever within a year. On September 1, 1892, she was married to Nicholas Kennedy who died in 1942. An only child, Mrs. Nitis Hall, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kennedy was a very active church worker. She was a Sunday school teacher in the Christian Church for 60 years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, a charter member of the Union Township Home Demonstration Club and the George Kendall Post of the Women's Relief Corps.
She was nicknamed "Alice in Wonderland" because of he outlook on life and her great love of humanity and flowers.
Survivors are four grandchildren, John D. Hall of Lizton, Elizabeth Atkinson of Zionsville, Mary K. Holwager of Madison and Captain James K. Hall of Fairbanks, Alaska; a step-grandson, Captain Charles Hall of Duluth, Minn., and 12 great grandchildren.
