His first wife was Willie Adella Cobble and he married his second wife, Frankie Monroe Norton on 21 June 1930 in Atoka, Atoka, Oklahoma. He was a cafe operator. He died 19 May 1963 at the Madonna Hospital, in Denison, Grayson County, Texas, due to pneumonia caused by a chest injury that he had suffered during an automobile accident on 12 May 1963.
