Joseph John Wiederholt was born on November 6, 1862 in Paris, Wisconsin to parents Joseph and Maria Anna Kessler Wiederholt.

On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1886, Joseph married Catherine E. Weber at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sinsinawa Mound, Wisconsin.

After their marriage, they lived a year at Dubuque, Iowa. They then moved to a farm near Fairplay, Wisconsin until they moved to Lisbon, North Dakota in 1908. Here they reared their large family on the family farm. When their children were all grown up, Joseph and Catherine sold their family farm and retired to the City of Lisbon.

For several years Joseph served his township as a member of the Board of Supervisors.

On November 25, 1936 Joseph and Catherine celebrated their 50th anniversary with a Jublilee Mass and the renewing of their wedding vows at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

Joseph passed away on March 26, 1948 at the age of 85 where he lived in Napoleon, North Dakota, with his son the Rev. Monseignor Vincent Wiederholt.

A Requiem Mass was celebrated on March 29 at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon, North Dakota. Interment followed at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery where he was buried next to his wife Catherine.
