Alice Brooks, 70, of 2065 Anson Ave. died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at North Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hardage officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Stephenville and graduated from Hawley High School. She attended Hardin-Simmons University for three years and received nurses training from Hendrick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1944.
She was a staff nurse for Hendrick Medical Center for 32 years. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she worked for eight years with the Diabetic Unit. Moving to Abilene in 1939, she was a member of North Park Baptist Church. She was a member of the Alumni of Hendrick Medical Center School of Nursing and was the widow of James Franklin Brooks.
Survivors include three daughters, Oleta (Mrs. James) Hoffman, Ruth (Mrs. James) Mahaffey and Rhonda (Mrs. Glenn), all of Abilene; a son, Larry Brooks of Abilene; a sister, Louise Brooks of Abilene; two brothers, Dalton DeGuire of Abilene and James DeGuire of Sylvester, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
