Mrs. D.B. DeGuire, 68, of 2073 Anson Ave., died about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital.
A diabetic, Mrs. DeGuire had been in ill health for 30 years, bedfast for six years, and in the hospital for about 10 days.
On Nov. 28, 1911 she married the Rev. D.B. DeGuire in Erath County. They first came to Abilene in 1923. He pastored churches at rural communities and Lamesa and Rotan before returning to Abilene for the last time in 1927. The Rev. DeGuire retired six years ago.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Elliott's Funeral Home.
Mrs. DeGuire was a member of North Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. J.F. Brooks, 2071 Anson Ave., and Mrs. D.E. Brooks of Sweetwater; two sons, James R. DeGuire of Fort Worth and Dalton B. DeGuire of Alequippa, Pa; two brothers, Charlie L. Roberts of Fort Worth and Joe D. Roberts of Elcajon, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
Vermelle is buried in the Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas where she shares a gravestone with husband David Benjamin Deguire.
