Obituary for Edwin Wallace Gould:
The funeral of Edwin Wallace Gould, an old soldier and old settler of South Chicago, who died last Friday last at his home in that place was held Sunday last. The decedent was widely known in South Chicago, and by many he will be remembered as the "Grand Army Man," because he always took pride in wearing his blue uniform and always felt it was his duty as a soldier and an American citizen to visit the school houses on Decoration Day and other occasions to teach patriotism to the pupils. Thousands of pupils have heard this venerable gentleman recall the days of the Civil War and have been urged always to be loyal to their country. The deceased was well known by many of our older residents, and married a former Wilmington girl, Miss Mary Bruechet. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Monteith and Mrs. Jane Lovell of this city.
