Lydia Gould, daughter of Edwin Wallace Gould and Mary Louise Bruechet, was born 3 March 1870 in Illinois. The family moved to Indiana where Lydia spent her early years. She first married Levi Peter Hancock 08 Jan 1888 in Newton County, Indiana. They were the parents of Gertrude E. "Gertie," Jesse S., and Unice Hancock. Lydia and Levi were divorced before 1900. The census for 1900 lists Lydia and the three children living in Cook County, Illinois. Lydia and John Saager were married 21 December 1901 in Illinois. They moved to Lake County, Indiana where they remained until John's death in 1938. Sometime
after John's death, Lydia relocated to Oregon--perhaps to be near her children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Saager, 82, of Warrenton, Ore., former Lake County resident for 60 years, who died Friday, will be held tomorrow in Warrenton.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Hammond.
Survivors are two daughters, Unice Campbell of Hammond, and Gertrude Whittlieb of Oregon; four grandchildren, Jack James of Hammond, Sam Campbell of Waukegan, Ill., June and William of Oregon; and three great grandchildren.
