She first married Levi Peter Hancock 08 Jan 1888 in Newton County, Indiana. They were the parents of Gertrude E. "Gertie," Jesse S., and Unice Hancock. Lydia and Levi were divorced before 1900. The census for 1900 lists Lydia and the three children living in Cook County, Illinois. Lydia and John Saager were married 21 December 1901 in Illinois. They moved to Lake County, Indiana where they remained until John's death in 1938. Sometime
after John's death, Lydia relocated to Oregon--perhaps to be near her children.
