Died February 16

Melvin Leroy McDonald, 40, of 830 South 5th Avenue in Winterset, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 1978. He was a field inspector for Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel Company and died at Glen Carbon, Illinois, while on assignment.

Mr. McDonald was born November 22, 1937, in Madison County, the son of William Wallace and Gladys Clark McDonald. His residence here included 28 years. He was married January 25, 1956, to Vivian Charlene Bush at Winterset. She survives her husband.

Also surviving are three sons, Gary Lee, Gregory Alan and Grant Eugene and a daughter, Lisa Lynn, all at home. He is survived by his mother, Gladys McDonald; five brothers, Wayne, Harold, Victor Scott, Paul and Jim, all of Winterset and two sisters, Barbara Corkrean of Macksburg and Zola Haigh of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Leonard.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Byron Ayres of First United Methodist Church of Winterset officiating. Burial was made at McDonald-Chase Cemetery.
