James Dwight McDonald, the son of Wallace and Gladys (Clark) McDonald, was born January 8, 1935, in Madison County, Iowa. Jim was united in marriage with Beverly Rinard on August 4, 1954, at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Winterset.
For close to 25 years, Jim logged and farmed with his brother, Wayne. He continued to farm and later worked for the county, until his “retirement” in 2000. He loved his time farming and enjoyed raising cattle. Jim was great at giving advice and you could often find him at happy hour and coffee doing just that. Jim also enjoyed helping at the fairgrounds and was awarded 2012 Friends of the Fair. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who cherished the time spent with them.
Jim is survived by two sons, Mark D. McDonald (Cindy) of Adel and Marty McDonald (Diane K.) of Winterset; one daughter, Marcia Munger (Steve) of Clive; eight grandchildren, Wesley, Adam & Geoffrey Little, Chris, Andrew, Heather & Joel McDonald, and Jeremy Flannery; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Barbara Corkrean; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Gladys; his wife, Beverly in 2010; brothers, Wayne, Harold, Scott, Leonard, Paul, and Melvin McDonald; and sister, Zola Haigh.
