An obituary for William A. Fling stated that he had died August 4 [1948]. He was born Oct. 13, 1853 at Circleville, Ohio, the son of John and Adeline Fling. He came to Illinois with his parents when he was 15 years old. The family settled in Richland Township where he spent the remainder of his life, having resided on the same farm for 65 years. He took keen interest in current events and remembered well the Civil War and had voted at every presidential election during his lifetime. He married May Belle Caskey, Mar. 6, 1877, who had preceded him in death January 15, 1937, also three children. Mr. Fling was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic order for 46 years. Surviving were children, Mrs. Sylvester Skeels of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Mrs. Howard Price of Shelbyville; Mrs. Harry Storm and Ogden Fling of near Windsor; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
