Hannah, the daughter of Nicholas & Mary Buchholz was a quiet and unassuming woman who was a long time favorite of the towns young people. Her sole interest was her family and exploring the county hillsides. After the death of her first husband Thomas who was a jockey and killed after an accident in a horse race in Aspen, Hannah took her children and moved to Leadville before moving to a cabin on the Eagle River in 1908 until 1934. During that time she married William Johnston and had one son with him. William died 11 years after they married. In 1934 Hannah, her daughter Fanny and Granddaughter Joy who she raised from birth moved to a home on Capital St. in Eagle until her passing.

Hanna and her daughter Fanny they spent many hours in the hillsides collecting an outstanding amateur collection of Indian artifacts as well as an extensive rock collection all found within a 14 miles radius of Eagle.

Hannah and her father Nicholas were instrumental in founding St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eagle.
