Jim passed away in the Barz home in Glenwood Springs following a long illness. He lived with his family in Leadville from 1879-1882 when they moved to Eagle Valley and took up a farm that is now part of the Lloyd Ranch east of Eagle. When his parents sold the property they homesteaded on Buchholz Mesa north of Eagle. The family owned a butcher shop in 1890 in Red Cliff. Jim's Father Nicholas became the County assessor for 24 years and Jim was his deputy, and when his father passed away Jim became the assessor. Jim was also a forest rangers for the county for many years and photography was a passion. He had an outstanding collection of scenic pictures from Eagle County.
