Mrs. Mamie Lou Sprayberry, 72, 555 First St., Shannon, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in a Rome hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Sprayberry was born in Floyd County Aug. 1, 1905, daughter of the late Hugh Smith and Lelia Oakes Smith. She had resided here all of her life, and was a member of State Line Baptist Church and a retired employe of Aragon Mills. Her husband, Clyde Thomas Sprayberry, died Feb. 27, 1950, a son, Van Hebert Sprayberry, died in 1937, and a brother, Hugh Don Smith, died in 1966.

Surviving are four sons, John Wesley Sprayberry, Rome, Hugh Davis Sprayberry and Bobby Dean Sprayberry, both of Shannon, Clyde Edward Sprayberry, Subligna; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Jean Momon, Subligna, Mrs. Shirley Ann O'Neal and Mrs. Mardell Morgan, Rome, Mrs. Callie Elizabeth Maynard, Armuchee; one brother, Paul Smith, Rome; five sisters, Mrs. Julie Sprayberry, Coosa, Mrs. Thelma Barber, Wharton, Ala., Mrs. Irene Mize, Mrs. Margaret Hardin and Mrs. Hazel Hardin, all of Rome; 25 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today in Pisgah Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Hamrick and Oscar Lewis officiating. Interment was in Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Sprayberry, Thomas O'Neal, Merle Thurston, Johnny O'Neal, Gene Agan and Billy Hardin.

Jennings Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
