Provo Lady Succumbs in Hospital
Geniel Bench Jones, 69, 699 No 500 W, Provo, Utah died early this morning at the Utah Valley Hospital of a lingering illness.
She was born Oct 15, 1900 in Manti (Utah) a daughter of Frederick William and Annie Madsen Bench. She married J. Gilbert Jones on October 13, 1923 in Provo, Utah.
Mrs. Jones moved to Boneta, Duchesne County, Utah with her parents as a child, where she received her education. In 1922 she moved to Provo, where she resided with a sister and worked for the George A. Hansen Candy Company.
Following her marriage she resided in Provo, working for Dalebout Baker for two years. Active in the LDS Church, she had served in the Primary and YWMIA as a teacher. Her hobbies included flowers and gardening and she enjoyed fishing and the out-of-doors.
Surviving are her husband of Provo; two sons and two daughters: J. Melvin Jones, Vernal, Utah; Fred G. Jones, Orem, Utah; Mrs. Lynn F. (Donna Rae) Clark, Granger, Utah, and Mrs. Harold G. (Merlene) Dunford, Las Vegas, Nev; 19 grandchildren, and three brothers and five sisters: A. Tatton Bench, M. Donald Bench, Mrs. Helen Ann Odekirk, and Edmund O. Bench, all of Duchesne, Utah; Mrs. Marguerite Young, Clearfield, Utah; Mrs. Frances B. Hair, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Joseph T. (Kathleen) Bentley, Provo, Utah and Mrs. Bernard L. (Ruth) Dastrup, Altamont (Utah).
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 184 E Center, Provo. Bishop R. Delbert Warner, Rivergrove, LDS First Ward, officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
