William E. Kelley was born in Lawrence County, Missouri, June 12, 1864 and died at his home in Luray, Missouri, October 22, 1918, being 54 years, 4 months, and 10 days of age.

On November 20, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Ida J. Swisher. To this union were born nine children: Luther S. of Ft. Madison, Iowa; Arthur E. of South Pekin, Illinois; Emery D. who preceded his father in death in 1892; Jess J. and Alvin A. who are in France fighting for their country; Mrs. Anna Benda of Luray, Missouri; Mrs. Margaret Herrick of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ruby M. and Fred D. at home.

In November 1886, he united with the Christian church. He died looking forward to a home of happiness with the Savior.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, eight children and eight grandchildren, also four brothers and two sisters besides a host of friends and neighbors.

He was not afraid to die but looked forward to the end and prepared for it even to the choosing of his pallbearers.

The funeral services were held from the home conducted by Rev. Cooney, assisted by Rev. Kious, after which the deceased was laid to rest in the Combs Cemetery near Luray.
