He trained at Camp Polk, Louisiana and landed in England June 5, 1944. On August 10 he arrived in France and took part in the spearhead attack across France with Patton´s Third Army. During 11 months overseas as a tank gunner he saw action in the Battles of Verdun, Antwerp, the loss of St. Vith, its recapture. At the time of his death he was at the Ruhr Pocket where over 300,000 Germans were trapped. His last letter dated April 1, 1945.
A brother, T/Sgt Leonard Brodman, completed 50 missions with the 15th AAF overseas.
